When we first got here, one of the first things we did was go to the aquarium. I thought it was the same one from Finding Dory but apparently, it is not. Oh well. It’s still a good aquarium. Because our family is a small army, it was cheaper to get a year pass than buy 6 1-day tickets so that’s what we did. Since the aquarium is a non-profit, they were keen to tell us we could deduct it on our taxes. :p
The aquarium is huge. There are 3 stories and a huge deck out back. There was a worker outside who gave us binoculars to borrow and pointed out all the animals swimming which was really cool. Once back inside, you go through the ocean and the bay so you can see sea creatures from all over plus the bay that we live next to, it was cool to be like “see, that’s OUR harbor!”
I also really liked all the hands-on stations. Looking at fish is cool but being able to interact with them is even better. I had heard the aquarium was very “kid friendly” and it really was. There is a huge kid section with all kinds of activities. The kid zone is worth the membership alone. We easily spent double time time in this area.
During the summer, they also have an evening event on Saturdays with live music and drinks which we also went to a couple times. Getting the pass was such a great idea, I’m so glad we did. Now that we figured out how to park like a local (i.e. free), I can see us going at least once a month!
