Here in California, they deliver fresh vegetables and fruit to your house! I signed up for a box and each week, you get an email with a preview of what’s inside. Last week, we got pears which are not a fruit that I always eat but I figured, why not? Once we got the box, I decided to use them to make a brie crustini because I see them all over pinterest and I am currently obsessed with this balsamic of Modena that we got from Safeway.
I used an Udi’s gluten free baguette but you can use any kind. For my brie, I got a one with a soft rind so all I had to do was slice it up. First you want to toast your bread a little bit. Put your bread in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes. You don’t want to toast the bread all the way since you still need to top your crustini.
Pull the bread from the oven and place a slice of brie onto each piece, top with a slice of pear and return it to the oven. Bake for another 5-7 minutes until the bread is toasty and the brie is melty. Place the brie onto a platter (or cutting board) and drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Then sit back and enjoy!
Brie and Pear Crustini
- 1 baguette
- 1 sleeve of brie
- 1-2 pears
- balsamic vinegar
- Slice the baguette on a bias. Preheat the oven for 350 degrees. Slice enough pieces of brie and pear for the amount of bread you have.
- Bake the bread for 5-7 minutes, you want it to be about halfway toasted. Remove from the oven and place a slice of brie and a slice of pear onto each crustini.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with balsamic vinegar and enjoy!
