Well hello. I know it’s been a while, you know it, I know it. Let’s just move on. Since we are back in military housing and are in a 3 bedroom house, I thought I would share off how we’re stuffing 4,000+ square feet of stuff into half a house. First up, the kid’s rooms. The younger two were already bunking together in Colorado but since we are down a room, the biggies have to share a room as well.
This was before. The rooms are very small. You can’t even put a twin bed horizontally in the room so I knew we would have to get rid of some furniture. The white shelf was actually damaged in the move so getting rid of that was an easy decision. For toy storage, I got some plastic tubs that fit under the kid’s beds and then organized the toys by type. This lasted about a day because kids be messy. The room is actually so small that poor Piglet’s dresser is in the hall! He does not seem to mind so it’s not all bad.
Since we also lost a toy room, the kids have more toys in their room than they usually do. It’s tricky to get them to clean up at the end of the day but it’s a habit they will need to get into. I think I will make them a chore chart or something. They also get to keep more stuffed animals in their rooms which means their beds are just forever full of “friends” every morning.
The little boy’s room was easier. They already share a dresser so we didn’t have to try and squeeze anything else in. They also don’t have many toys in their room since I kept them downstairs for daytime playtime. We got rid of the crib before we left Colorado so Nugget is in the top bunk and we turned it around so he couldn’t fall out. This lasted a couple months as he can now climb in and out of the bed and that makes bed time so fun, let me tell you.
Overall, the kid rooms are okay. I would prefer bigger rooms or additional rooms but this assignment isn’t a long one so I think we’ll be okay. What about you? Are any of your kids doubled-up?
