One of the things I love about summer is all the flowers. We cannot always enjoy them because the cats will eat them but every once in a while, I buy some flowers and bring in the brightness to our house. Since we don’t usually have flowers, we don’t have a lot of vases and so I decided to paint up some glass milk jugs (aff link) and let the kiddos paint up some too.
I let the kids paint however they wanted but for my look, I wanted something sheer, almost like a stained glass. Using acrylic paint and a wet sponge brush, I painted gently along the vertical of the bottle. I kept the coats a little uneven and see-through. Once I was done painting them, I sat them outside to dry and to coat them with a sealant.
This was a quick and fun craft and since we have lots of bottles left, I think I will make some for Christmas time and fill them with lights. The kids also really liked their vases. When we got to California, I set out my vases for display and Mac asked “where’s my vase?” So that had to come out for display too. My proud little artists.
Have you ever painted milk bottles? What’s your favorite flower to have in your house?
