Well, as promised, here is the final thing on our Colorado Bucket List. Touring the Olympic Training Center was one of the first things we added but for some reason, it took us until almost the very last day in Colorado to do. Oh well, the important part is we got in done! We didn’t know what to expect really but it was super cool. So many high tech gyms for the different sports, the kids were super excited to see all the people training and it was super interesting to see where our Olympic athletes train.
With our tickets, you get a free picture where you can post with replica medals so that was fun. I always appreciate getting to take a group shot with all 6 of us, even if not everyone is smiling. Oh well. The tour is outdoors as you walk between the training facilities. There is like a huge weight room, a giant pool, numerous courts, and a neat wrestling room. There are pullies in the pool that will drag you at world record speed, the wresting room was heated to like 85 degrees to keep their muscles loose. It was all very high tech.
There are also dorms on the facility for athletes to stay in and there is a whole suite of doctors to help with injuries and their rehab services were so cool. They had a zero gravity treadmill for leg injuries and it was so neat. There’s even a kitchen to show athletes how to cook meals with enough calories and nutrition to keep them going. I was very impressed. Of course, we have a lot of amazing Olympic athletes so seeing where they trained prior to earning their medals was super cool.
If you’re ever in Colorado Springs, you totally should check it out!
