Well, I’m back sharing our second day at Estes Park. If you missed day one, check it out here. Since this was a YMCA resort, there were tons of sleep away camp activities to do. We decided to do some organized activities and then some just on our own. We got up and headed to breakfast and got ready for our first activity. We did a little class about wildlife local to the mountain and then walked around to look for signs of animals. I was surprised the amount of scat that was around but that’s nature for you.
After the walk around outside, we headed to the game room and played some games. Hubs is not only a secret roller blader but he is also weirdly good at ping pong and pool. When does he have time to play these things? Maybe he doesn’t actually go to work, he just goes to a pool hall? Probably not. Anyway. The kids were into it and so it was a good time. And since it was inside, we were able to warm up after our nature walk.
For the last activity of the day, we were going to go swimming but since it was the “off season,” they only had 2 lifeguards on duty and only 20 people could swim at a time. The pool was full when we got there and there was a line so we wrote the pool off and went to the park instead. While the kids were sad, the park was fun and we managed to fail at a group photo again. It’s a running theme for us.
Overall, it was a nice couple days and I was glad we were able to check it off our bucket list. The YMCA was a great choice for us to go since we had never actually done a mountain vacation. While it wasn’t all good, it was worth it since we got such a great deal. I probably would have been irritated if we had spent more.
What about you? Did you go somewhere warm for spring break or were you still in a winter wonderland?
