Let me tell you a story about my darling husband. He is a noisy sleeper. He’s often on his back with his mouth open, breathing. Of course everyone needs to breathe, but I am a light sleeper so if I’m not asleep before he is, I will toss and turn for a while until I finally fade out. We have tried many things to silence his sleep, but nothing works as well as a nightly stretch, followed up by a Breathe Right® Nasal Strip.
Does your partner keep you awake at night too? Try out our routine and see how much it can benefit your sleep. We do a series of 5 stretches before heading to bed. These are great for releasing tension and making us both more relaxed.
The Neck Rotation
Standing up straight with your hands on your hips, slowly rotate your head clockwise 3 times and then counter-clockwise 3 more times. Be sure to stretch out any sore neck muscles as you do it.
Arm and Shoulder Stretch
With your legs shoulder width apart, gently pull your right arm across your body. Feel the stretch in your upper arm and shoulder. Hold for a slow count of 10 and then switch sides.
Hip and Back Stretch
Sit down with your legs outstretched. Cross your right leg over your left, and turn your back away from your knee. You may feel your back pop, but you should definitely feel the stretch in your lower back and the back of your right leg. Hold the stretch for a slow count of 10, and then switch sides.
Hip and Leg Stretch
Laying down, bend your right leg and gently pull it into your chest. You should feel the stretch in your upper leg area. Hold the stretch for a slow count of 10, and then switch sides.
Touch Your Toes
With both legs outstretched, lean forward to touch your toes. This should be a full-leg and upper back stretch. Hold for a slow count of 10, and repeat once.
Once you’re done with your stretches and you’ve brushed your teeth, it’s time to quiet the sleeping spouse. Using Breathe Right® Nasal Strips, you can boost your chances of a quieter sleep. Because they open your nose 38% more*, you can breathe better through your nose and less through your noisy mouth. Full disclosure, as I get closer to the end of my pregnancy, my mouth breathing is out of control, so I am not ashamed to say I’ve been sneaking some of Hubs’ Breathe Right® Nasal Strips.
So how do they work? Very easily! You just need to follow these easy steps:
- Wash your nose
- Dry your nose
- Open Breathe Right® Nasal Strip
- Apply Breathe Right® Nasal Strip so the tabs cover the flaring part of your nostrils
- Rub the strip to secure it on your nose
- Go to sleep!
My husband and I use them off and on throughout the year when nasal congestion gets us down. To remove them, just wash your face in the morning as you normally would, and it peels off in one easy swipe.
Breathe Right® Nasal Strips are available at Walmart and Walmart.com. If shopping in person is more your jam, you can easily find them in the pharmacy section.
