For one of our last meals in Hawaii, we decided to do a luau. We had previously done one at Paradise Cove and the Polynesian Cultural Center but had not gone to Germaine’s. A lot of people told us that it was their favorite but honestly, if you’ve been to 1 commercial luau, you’ve been to them all. Since we were in a hotel and bored and they provided transportation, we decided to go.
The bus ride was nice and we got to the location pretty quickly, it was on the other side of the island and even though it was nearly 5 pm, the traffic wasn’t too bad. Piglet did fall asleep on the bus but whatever. Kids get tired. 😛 Germaine’s is by far the smallest luau out of the 3 we went to. They also didn’t have any activities. Just eating and a show. I didn’t know that and I was bummed the kids couldn’t make a lei or anything.
The location, even though it was small, is really pretty. You’re right on the beach. They did the whole pig ceremony thing but we didn’t go watch it because the kids were happy playing in the sand. Once the pig was brought out of the ground, the food is served buffet style. A server will come by and let you know it’s your turn. We were nearly first in line and the food was of course delicious. The show got started and we enjoyed that. Blueberry went up on stage to learn to hula and Piglet rocked out at our table. Mac eventually fell asleep and we just had a nice relaxing time. The show went on a little too long for my liking but it was still enjoyable and a nice way to say good-bye to Oahu.
Have you been to Germaine’s? What was your favorite luau on Oahu?
