Hawaii is all about fresh fruit and the acai bowl. I had never heard of them until a couple months about but now, I see them everywhere.
The best one I’ve had is down in North Shore and honestly, driving there all the time isn’t easy. It’s not far, it’s just loading up all the kids and driving down there. Oh well. Hubs liked them and decided we could make them at home.
And so we did.
|Stuff You Need|
First thing – finding acai is hard. Whoops. We finally did find some at Costco but that’s okay, the cherry berry blend was really good. Also, not pictured is some apple juice. You need it to help blend the fruit.
Blend your fruit with a splash of apple juice until it’s the consistency you want. Acai bowls are like a thick smoothie in a bowl so don’t blend it too much!
Once you’ve blended it, put it in a bowl and sprinkle some granola and add some banana. Some places here give honey added for free, some charge. I don’t prefer the honey so I always ask for it without it. Hubs likes honey. It’s all up to you really. You don’t even have to add bananas either. Blueberries, strawberries, whatever you want.
I stick to the classics.
Do you acai? What’s your favorite way to eat?
