Hello friends! I am here to save you some time, money, and heartache. Subscription boxes are supposed to be fun. A monthly box of goodies. Bluum Box promises to have boxes tailored to your pregnancy and baby. I had previously written about my November Box here and how disappointed I was.
They took forever and a day to finally respond to me about why shipping cost nearly $14 and it still took over a month to arrive and so I canceled the subscription and waited for my December box to arrive. It shipped on the 9th of December.
It showed up on the 2nd of January. Nearly a full month! They use FedEx “smart box” which may as well be called “shit box” because FedEx gives the package to USPS, who takes FOREVER to send it to Hawaii and the tracking does not get updated ever. Once they had it over to USPS, forget about it. USPS had it for 3 weeks before delivering it. Not sure if FedEx smart box is this crappy on the mainland, but for the island, it is super annoying.
And now onto the box. I nearly cried when I opened it. First, it was super light so I knew there wasn’t much in it. Remember, they boast that the boxes are for where you are in your pregnancy. I am 22 weeks pregnant. Over halfway. The goodies for me were morning sickness candies and belly stickers that started at 12 weeks. Neither can be used.
I didn’t have morning sickness, I still don’t have morning sickness. Most women stop having morning sickness in their second trimester anyway so why would this be included?
The belly stickers? Yeah, sure, I’d love to randomly start using them halfway through my pregnancy thanks Blumm Box, how did you know? I fired off a strongly worded email, letting them know that both my boxes were for people who are in their first trimester. Seriously, the lame puzzle book and these stickers would only be half used if I decided to use them.
Onto baby’s goodies. A baby bottle and MORE F*CKING BABY MITTENS.
I want to breastfeed. Both my other kids had breast milk, I want to try to get number 3 to drink it too. Sending a bottle to a pregnant woman is a subtle “hey, breastfeeding is hard, this bottle is easy!” You don’t even have to clean it if you don’t want to because it has drop in liners that hold the formula! I know some people use formula. My kids drank it after 6 months. I am not knocking anyone’s choice to use a bottle or a boob but this is just another way to subtlety discourage women from trying and I was not pleased.
And now onto the mittens. Last month, I got 3 pairs. This month, I got another 2. This will be my third newborn. I know for a fact they need more than mittens. Why the hell are they still sending me mittens? You would think that they would track what they sent you last month so that you wouldn’t get duplicates but apparently not because I even got the same brand as last month. And I reviewed my box and told them what they put in it was shit and I didn’t need any f*cking mittens.
Looking at their website, I can return the box. Of course, I have to pay for shipping. And an additional $10 restocking fee. And it takes 2 weeks or more once they even get the product to process a return. And it says “store credit or refund. I told them I wanted a REFUND because there is no way I am shopping at their online store. The boxes are $29, plus $5 “overseas” charge, plus shipping. Overall, it’s a waste.
A huge, big, waste of time and money and joy. Yes joy, because I was looking forward to these boxes and all they did was disappoint me.
So, there you have it. Bluum Box is a no-no. Unless you like wasting money, they go ahead!
