So, my mom came to visit me for my birthday and stayed almost 2 weeks. I dropped her off at the airport today. 🙁 She helped me get Piglet to eat more food and enjoyed in watching Piglet learn to creep. He’ll be crawling any day now.
Anyway, I like to sew but I don’t know how to make clothes. I made a dress once when I was 10 or 11 for to get my Girl Scout Sewing badge but I don’t remember much. Since my mom was here, I took advantage and she helped me sew some clothes. She was very much about me doing it, and her helping even though I wanted her to just do it all but it turned out well, because now I have fabric and a pattern for a shirt and I feel confident that I can make it by myself.
Here’s the firs thing I made. It has interfacing, gathering, and a zipper! All things I’ve never used before. I didn’t even know what interfacing was. Haha! But my mom was there to square me away. She helped me with the zipper and how to gather fabric – I never knew how easy it was.
Here’s the final result. And I got to buy new shoes to match!
The next thing we made was a shirt/tunic. It’s long-ish so I don’t consider it a shirt but I don’t think it’s long enough to be a tunic. I sewed it almost completely by myself. I had 1 hiccup with the elastic that my mom helped me with but other than that, it was all me baby!
The shirt that I am going to make by myself is similar to this one except there’s no tie. I can’t wait! I’m so glad my mom was about to come visit and help me. Now, I will be able to make more that just stuffed animals for Piglet.
Oh, and she helped me make some pants for Piglet….
Very cute. And never mind that his onesie doesn’t match. :p
