I follow a blog called Me and My Soldier Man. Every Monday, she watches a movie and then blogs about it. A couple weeks ago, she talked about a movie called “Fat Head.” It sounded interesting so I looked it up on Netflix to watch.
The movie is basically a response to the movie “Supersize Me.” I had to watch that movie in my college nutrition class and honestly was grossed out. I never really liked McDonald’s but after that movie, I couldn’t stomach it anymore. Everything he went through just made queasy.
Obviously, the movie wasn’t completely truthful. I mean, he sat on his ass for a month and ate the most unhealthy options on the menu. In “Fat Head,” the narrator points out the inconsistencies of Spurlock’s study and decides to do his own study. But he does it a little different. He doesn’t eat crazy and he incorporates exercise.
Needless to say, he loses weight and gets healthier. The doctors he interviews also talk a lot about what the government recommends we eat and what they think we really should be eating. They also seem to think there’s a huge conspiracy between the farmers of America and the US government. I thought that was a bit of a stretch but some of the points they made were pretty good ones.
Overall, it was interesting and definitely made me think and I would recommend you see it.
