Last year, I tried having a focus word and while I liked it and really tried to do everything with purpose, this year I decided to try something new. I made a vision board so that throughout the year, I can add and take away goals and resolutions without being tied down to just one word. I know it’s already the 9th but it’s not too late to make your own vision board! Since I’ll be looking at this all year, I made a cute board to use.
First, you’ll need a bulletin board, fabric, and some adhesive vinyl. I found this amazing holographic vinyl several months ago and didn’t have a project until now. I used my silhouette to cut out the words “2018 Vision Board.”
Once you have it cut, you need to weed the excess away and then grab your transfer paper to take it from the sheet it was on to your fabric. Prior to putting your decal onto the fabric, make sure you have ironed the fabric so that it is smooth.
Using the smoothing tool that comes with your silhouette, make sure you rub the design really well and then apply the decal to the fabric where you want it. I had to make sure I pulled it off slowly because the vinyl was reluctant to leave the transfer paper. Just take your time and it’ll go smoother. Once the decal has been transferred, gently rub the design with your smoothing tool to make sure everything is 100% sticking.
I used pinking sheers to cut the edges of my fabric so that it will not fray through out the year. Then take some tacky glue and put a line around the edges. Smooth the fabric onto the bulletin board. Make sure the edges are all stuck down and add more glue if have a loose section. Allow it to dry overnight before hanging it up.
Now, all you need are some push pins and you are on your way to creating a visual reminder of the things you want to accomplish in 2018. I have already added 3 things: making my bed every day, do a cardio workout 6 times a week, and do my calisthenics routine 5 times a week.
What is something you would add to your 2018 vision board?
