One of the things we have wanted to do is tour the Broadmoor. We drove past it on our way to hike the Seven Falls, which was over a year ago. Whoops. Anyway, the local news said we could not miss the Broadmoor lights and so we headed out. On what turned out to be one of the coldest nights in ever. *shrug*
Inside is a giant gingerbread house. Like HUGE. Mac tried to eat it and so he had to leave the room pretty quickly. In the lobby, there was this really pretty tree but only Blueberry was excited. We were a little early so the lights hadn’t been turned on yet. There was even a dude with a falcon in the lobby. Why? Who knows but it was cool.
We went outside as the lights came on and the views are amazing. Like, holy cow, the lake, the mountain. So pretty. The lights; however, were a little disappointing. A couple trees had some fairy lights. I don’t know. The news made us think it was a huge light show and it was most definitely not. But the kids still thought it was fun and we got to peek into some of the rooms, which was neat.
Even the walk to the parking lot is pretty. The parking lot is across the street so we got to see some deer as we walked. They got so close to us, it was crazy. There were about 8 of them and the kids thought they were Santa’s reindeer taking a break before heading out on Christmas Eve. 😛
