This week is National School Lunch Week and packing a balanced lunch to keep your kid full, focused, and on track for the rest of the school week is a key to their educational success. If you recall, Piglet has hang ups with food. I have talked about his food journey many times and I am happy to report that his palate has expanded even more! This week is National School Lunch week and since there is no way I am getting him to buy a school lunch anytime soon, I thought I would share a few of his new favorites. And a couple oldies but goodies.
Piglet has lunch and a snack time at school so packing a variety of foods can be tricky. I use these bento boxes for his main course. I still can’t convince him to eat bread but I have gotten him to eat turkey in roll ups – which he calls sandwiches – and even hot dogs cut up! He still only eats colbyjack cheese but I agree with him that it’s the best cheese. I also like to toss in an AquaBall. I discovered these over the summer and the kids love them. With fun Disney and Marvel characters, zero-calorie, and zero-sugar, it is the perfect drink to keep him hydrated during the day. I also got some Welch’s Fruit Rolls which are a fun treat for him to have.
For snack, he still likes popcorn and sometimes I can even get him to try other flavors! The Little Kernel Miniature Popcorn is a perfect item for his snack time. The kernels are miniature and so cute. Perfect for a first grader. I also grabbed some fruit snacks to mix up his lunchtime treat. These are USDA-certified organic and taste great. I may or may not also sneak these little bags into my lunchbox.
Okay, I do.
Anyway, tell me about your National School Lunch Week. Do you pack your kid’s lunches? What are some of their favorites?
