Finally, we went to Animal Kingdom. We went to it on our Honeymoon and I remember there being some fun things to do. They have a ton of animals on site so this park is like a zoo with rides. The kids were excited to see the animals and I had also reserved a character meal so I was so excited. The new Avatar area is pretty cool – coming from someone who has not seen the movie but the one child-friendly ride was closed when we were there. Oh well.
I also picked up a hat for Nugget because dude is BLONDE and he was in and out of a stroller all day. He did have sun screen on but still. The hat had terry cloth in it and it got so sweaty. Poor dude. He is not used to humidity. At the character lunch, we got to see Mickey, Goofy, Daisy, and Donald. Did you know Blueberry was obsessed with Donald Duck? Me neither. She was so freaking excited. The food was so good. And they even had flourless cakes. It’s a buffet so we totally took advantage of that. Disney buffets always have a shorter line that is kid sized and I just love that. The kids got to pick out their own stuff and even serve it.
Animal Kingdom has a lot of walking around style rides. They also have a Bug’s Life interactive show so we did that. I remember it being…abrasive. I don’t like 3D shows and this one is “4D,” you get sprayed with water, there are loud noises, weird things poke you in the seat. The kids were terrified. I felt so bad. We told the kids not to lose their glasses and to keep them on so that was so not helpful. Piglet and Blueberry were not happy with us. Mac and Nugget didn’t really care but anyway, we made up for it with some candy. Yay parenting?
Overall, it was a great trip. 3 days was perfect for these kiddos. We will probably stay off-site when we go again just because we need such a large room but one day, I’d like to stay at a resort and do Disney Big. We’re (kinda) in the west now so maybe we’ll try Disneyland next. Have you been there? Which do you prefer?
