Oh goodness, school is done. My little Kindergartener is graduating today and will be in first grade next year. I am dumbfounded. This year flew by! I have to say, I was really nervous about moving here because Piglet was in his old school, with his IE doing well. While we started off rocky, we got into an autism program and his teachers and paras are AMAZING. This year, since he will have the same teacher and para next year, I decided to make more of a “see you later” gift instead of a good-bye gift. Using my silhouette portrait, I cut out a great phrase and attached it to a glass jar that I filled with candy. Simple. And it’s got chocolate and everyone loves that.
I got the apple shape from here. If you’re new to the silhouette machine, you cannot go wrong looking at her page. So much information! The quote I chose was “It takes a big heart to teach little minds.” I feel like this is especially important when working with the special education programs and I am so glad we get to keep our teacher for next year.
Once I applied the vinyl, I filled the jar with chocolate and then we also picked out a card. Piglet wrote “thank you for being my teacher” in it. All by himself. Like a grown up or something. Man, having a kid who can read or write really changes things. Anyway, it took about 30 minutes to make and I think it will be appreciated.
Did you do an end of the year gift? I’d love to see!
