Well hello! A few weeks ago, it was Kids Clothes Week. I haven’t done one in a long time but I blame the PCS and having a baby. This time around I did some basic pj pants and a top for Blueberry but for Mac, I made some slippers and thought I would share a tutorial in case you also want to make some sweet slippers for your little one. My pj pants tutorial can be found here.
Once you have your pieces cut up, you will start with the heel piece. My fleece has an obvious front and back so I folded a casing on the inside of the fleece, the casing should be a little larger than 1/4 inch wide. Take a length of elastic and a safety pin and thread the elastic through. You want the heel to get 50% smaller. This will ensure the slipper stays on your toddlers tiny toes.
Fold over a small hem on the toe part of the slipper to give the top of the slipper a finished look. From there, pin the toe and heel right sides together to the right side of the sole. Sew all the way around. Carefully, sew the side seams of the toe and heel together. Turn the slipper right side out and you are done! Just repeat for the other slipper.
If you’re worried about your kiddo slipping, take a hot glue gun and “draw” some zig zags or polka dots onto the sole of the shoe but that’s it. An easy pair of fluffy slippers.
Have you ever sewn for your kids? What’s your favorite thing to make?
