One of the things on our Bucket List was to visit the Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park. We saw it when we drove to go see the leaves this fall and since dinosaurs are always a hit with the kids, I knew they would like it. We headed out and got there just as it opened. I didn’t realize how small it was but the cool thing was that these are actual fossils. Apparently, a lot of dinosaurs were discovered in Colorado. Who knew?
There were a lot of hands on activities which is always good because they really wanted to touch the bones. There was an entire corner of things to do including digging for bones, an interactive computer, and a place to build your own dinosaur. Piglet liked that they best because you could basically add whatever you wanted. Blueberry was afraid to dig for bones at first but once I showed her how it worked, she was obsessed.
There also was a room for prehistoric aquatic creatures which of course, the kids loved because anything to do with the ocean is cool with them. While we were there, someone was having a party and the guide was nice enough to let our kids listen in on the lessons which was a total bonus. Once the party left, the lady stayed around and talked with the kids about all kinds of stuff. The staff there was really amazing.
If you are in the Colorado Springs area and have a dino lover, this is a great place to spend a morning at.
