Over the long weekend, we decided to finally check out Denver. Between moving into a new house, having a new baby, and the holidays we just haven’t had the time. We decided to do the Children’s Museum and Aquarium because they are literally right next to each other. I love children’s museums and we go to them whenever we can. We never made it to the one in Waikiki so I made sure to put Denver’s on the top of our list. We arrived 20 minutes after it opened and it was already packed.
We went to a few of the areas, the fire truck was a huge hit. Right next door was a veterinarian display but none of the kids wanted to pretend to be a pet doctor so we skipped it. Bummer. Upstairs was a ball room where you built different ramps and slides to get the balls across the room. It was chaos. So many kids and parents and since Nugget was in a stroller, I couldn’t go in and play with the kids. Sad.
Luckily, we didn’t stay long. Next door was the bubble room. Always a hit. There were these tubes filled with water vapor and using them and soap, the kids made bubbles. The big kids also got to “trap” themselves into a giant bubble. But we had to leave the area because Mac didn’t wear his safety goggles and got soap in his eye. He’s as bad as Carol. Remember that meme? #showingmyage Anyway, after that, we went into the construction zone. They had building instructions to make a couple different things but none of the kids were interested in building one. They mostly wanted to play with the tools. Still, Blueberry was the only one not trying to go blind. *shrug*
The last couple places we went was the water place and the energy place. The water place was kind of a bust. It was chilly outside so it was chilly inside. None of the kids really wanted to play in the water and here is where the mean mommies were, hoarding all the balls and boats, so we left pretty quickly. Energy was fun. The kids love wind power. Piglet is obsessed with it. At restaurants, he is always blowing crayons around using his “wind power” so this area was rad. But loud and Nugget got scared so I took him out and sat in the cafe.
Over all, it was a great way to the spend the morning. You can bring food to eat at the cafe or they have some snacks. There is also a HUGE outdoor play area but we left our coats in the car so I didn’t have to carry them around the museum so we didn’t go play outside. If you’re ever near Denver, definitely check it out!
