I don’t know about you but the holiday season is stressful. My extended family is coming and so cleaning house is a priority. I don’t like to use a lot of antibacterial germ killers because those contribute to the super bug problem and I have small kids who lick things so I don’t want those chemicals in their mouths. I’ve been using white vinegar to clean for a while and came up with an amazing cleaner that is easy to make and even easier to use.
Partnering this cleaner with Scotch-Brite™ Brand sponges makes cleaning the kitchen amazingly easy. I use 2 different sponges to get all the surfaces in my kitchen clean – Scotch-Brite® Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge and Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge are perfect for cleaning counters, dining room tables, and even the glass top stovetop! Right now, you can grab a coupon for them and save $1 on any two Scotch-Brite Products (Scrub Sponges, Lint Rollers and Scrubbing Dish Cloths) at Walmart.
While you’re at Walmart, grab some white vinegar and an empty spray bottle (also found on the cleaning aisle with the sponges) and you’re on your way to making your own homemade cleaner.
Making the Cleaner
All you need is 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water to make an all-purpose cleaner. If you need something a little more “heavy duty,” you can do 1 cup of white vinegar to 1/2 cup of water. To add to the cleaning power and to scent the cleaner, I added a few drops of orange essential oils. Any citrus will do as they all provide some added cleaning power. The oil will not dissolve completely so prior to spraying my surfaces, I give the bottle a little shake.
The Scotch-Brite® Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge is perfect for pots, pans, oven racks, or my favorite – my stove top. Since it cleans 50% faster, you’ll be done in no time. Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge is perfect for counter tops, non-scratch pots and pans and even the dining room table.
Time to Clean
To use the cleaner, spray on the surface as you would any other cleaner and get to scrubbing. To clean our stove, we started off scrubbing with the green side, which is the heavy duty side and the finished up with the yellow side. This cleaner works really well to get the cooked on foods off my stove.
For the non-scratch sponge, use the blue side to gently remove any food or debris from the surface you’re cleaning. We use it to clean our dining room table because 1. kids are messy and 2. we just bought the table and don’t want it to get scratched. This sponge is great for cleaning without me worrying about my table getting hurt.
Adding this cleaner and Scotch-Brite™ Sponges to your cleaning routine this holiday season, you’ll be done in no time. If you use the right tools for each surface, cleaning your home will be easier and faster. Need some more cleaning inspiration?
