A few weeks ago, we decided we were going to have an adventure day and check out one of the many national parks around our area. Due to a miscommunication, the address I plugged into the GPS was not the correct address so we ended up in Pueblo. Whoops. Anyway, we found the Lake Pueblo State Park and decided to check that out rather than go home defeated.
The land here is so different from Hawaii. You can see for what feels like forever as you look to the horizon. In Hawaii, you eventually just see the ocean but some days, I swear looking out here, I can see another state! The weather was nice, a little cool but not too bad. This summer was a dry one so a lot of the grass was already dead and the lake was pretty low but it was still worth it.
The big kids went out to the lake and Hubs tried to show them how to skip rocks. They did mostly “toss the rock into the lake” instead but it was just the first time. The only lake we’ve been to as a family was one we fished at so the kids really were just focused on when we were getting fishing poles. Maybe next time!
Even though it wasn’t the national park we were intending to go to, it was still a great afternoon. The weather was good and the kids had fun, which is really the most important part of any outing.
