I will be the first to admit, our kids have a lot of toys. It’s not that we buy them all time. I just have a hard time getting rid of them. Maybe it’s a little pack-rattish but whatever. I try. I just feel like so many things have sentimental value or they’ll miss the toys or something. Besides they’re few “special” ones that live in their room, they really don’t miss anything. I need to get over it.
Anyway, as soon as you walk upstairs, we have loft area where we decided to put the kid’s toys. There’s a lot of space to play and I was able to get them a play tent, something I’ve been wanted to get them for a while. No idea why. We decided to decorate with some inspirational “explore” themed stuff. Hubs has been wanting a map of America for a while now and we saw this at Hobby Lobby and picked it up. He also grabbed some star stickers and we put them on all the states the kids have lived.
On the other wall, we put the kid’s newborn hats and pictures of them when they were babies. I’m waiting to get a print of Mac and one of Baby4 (and his hat) but Hubs hung the hooks already so we are ready to go once I finally get on Shutterfly and order the pictures.
Overall the area turned out great and since it has a lot of storage, when the kids feel like cleaning up – or I nag them enough – they have tons of places to put things. I’m sure I’ll be doing a purge before Christmas because you know Santa (grandparents) will be bringing some fun stuff.
