One of the things on our bucket list is to go to the Cheyenne Mountain State Park. It’s just down the street from us and so we decided to check it out. We didn’t really know what all was there and were pleasantly surprised to see all the trails they have. The trails are set up in little segments and you can kind of build your own path. We did a short 2 mile loop and went on the hunt for some autumnal leaves.
It’s not too cold here yet but the kids always insist on wearing their hoods with their coats zipped all the way. They’re silly like that. Hubs is big on teaching random facts when we’re out and so we tried to teach the kids what the different trees were named. They remembered about 1 of the tree names but there’s always next time!
The loop was nice to walk along, despite all the warnings about how to react if a bear was sighted. While Piglet loves black bears, running into one is the last thing on my list of things I want to do. We didn’t see much wildlife, except for a bunny and a couple prairie dogs.
Near the parking lot was a playground so after we finished our walk, we let the kids play for while before heading home. The park does cost $7 to get into but it was worth it. The facilities are really nice and the trails are kept up really well.
Have you ever been to this park?
