When we first got here, Hubs had 30 days of leave to take. We mostly hung around our rental property, explored the city, and worked on getting our house. On weekends, we tried to do some fun stuff and one of the things we decided to check out was Seven Falls. Hubs kept seeing signs for it and it sounded like a good time. To get to Seven Falls, you have to park off site and then they shuttle you over to the area. The website says the shuttle costs money but we were not charged. When you get to Seven Falls, you have to buy tickets though. For our family it was about $45.
Since we got into hiking in Hawaii, I was on the hunt for ones we could do with our family. I’m not sure if hikers consider this a hike because it’s all paved and has a gentle incline but the kids thought it was one. It’s about a mile both ways and they did the entire thing. Once you get to the top, there’s about a million stairs to go up to the top of the falls but since we had the stroller, we just took the elevator to the lookout to see the falls. Apparently in winter, they do a light show on the falls which I think would be awesome to see so I’m hoping we can go back to see it.
The falls were beautiful, although I thought there was going to be 7 separate water falls not 1 that was broken up into 7 steps. There’s an additional one that’s hidden that maybe we’ll be able to find when we go back. One of the other cool things about Seven Falls is the rock formations, there were signs that had some named so it was cool to look up and try and see if we could see what the sign was describing.
Overall, it was a fun morning. The park says you can’t bring your own food into the park so we didn’t bring any water bottles. They do have a little store that sells them but we also saw people with water bottles so if you’re in the area and want to go, you probably will be fine bring your own thermos.
Have you ever been to Seven Falls? Did you enjoy it?
