Since I have an actual office, I have been working to decorate it and make it easier to use. I decided I wanted to get a bulletin board to keep notes and whatnot where I could see them but I did not want a plain boring one. I looked into getting a pretty one but they are like upwards of $50. Way to much for a bulletin board. I thought about buying a plain cork board and covering it with fabric but you know what? Cork board is pricey too.
Do you know what’s affordable? Foam board. And so foam board is what I went with. Check out this tutorial to see how to make an easy and custom bulletin board.
What you need:
All you need is 1 foam board, 1 yard of fabric, and a glue gun. Make sure to iron your fabric out really well so that when you start to make your board, it’s nice and smooth.
Plug in your glue gun and lay out the fabric onto the foam board with the right side facing out. One yard of fabric is going to be bigger than the foam board so make sure to have a pair of fabric scissors on hand to cut away excess.
Put a strip of hot glue along the edge of the foam board and pull the fabric tight as you push the fabric edge into the glue. Repeat on the other long edge of the board.
After gluing down the shorter edges, fold over the corners and glue them down to create a nice point. Trim away the excess fabric as well.
I used a couple command strips to hang it and that was it. 10 minutes and you’ve got a custom bulletin board that is not only beautiful to look at but it will perfectly match your room’s decor too.
I love how mine turned out and even when there’s nothing on it, it still looks great. It’s like a functional piece of art and isn’t that the dream? To decorate your house with beautiful and function things?
