I thought I would share a couple books that I’ve read lately. I’m currently in the middle of 2 books and just finished 2. Well, 1 was a calligraphy “how to” book so that doesn’t really count as reading since it was a lot of tracing and practicing. Anyway…
I had heard about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child while still in Hawaii and honestly, I was not too excited. I mean. I like Harry Potter but I am not a Potterhead so I was like whatever. We happened to be at a Barnes and Noble the day before it released and I noticed all the book release party they were setting up. I mentioned it off hand to Hubs and a couple days later we were at Target, saw the book, and picked it up. I knew it was a play and I knew it was about Harry’s youngest son but that was about it. I thought J.K. wrote it but I guess she only gets credit for providing the characters and settings. It was an interesting book based on what it was, which was basically fan fiction in play form. I honestly never thought Cedric was that important of a character so it was interesting to me to see an entire story based around him. I don’t know. I enjoyed it but it definitely didn’t have the same magic as the other Harry Potter stories.
I got Simply Calligraphy from Blogging for Books back in June and I quite enjoyed it. I really like all the hand lettering people are doing on Instagram lately and I want to learn how to write it too. I don’t hate my normal handwriting but it isn’t that pretty all the time. This book was nice because there were plenty of practice pages and things to try to get the alphabet down. I am working on it, it’s still not good enough to show off but maybe 1 day. This book is great for people who want to learn calligraphy without watching tutorials or videos online. It’s nice to have the book in your hand instead of just watching a YouTube video.
What books have you read lately? Did you read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? Did you like it?
