Well folks, we did it. After what felt like months of prep work, we left Hawaii and have landed in Colorado. The flights were pretty easy and uneventful (despite our flight in LA to be delayed longer than the actual flight time). Since we left Hawaii on the same day as we arrived, my Memior app was full of old pictures from when we first arrived in paradise. And boy, have things changed!
When we arrived, Piglet was only 2! He still was in diapers, still had a binkie, and could barely speak. We didn’t know about his autism at the time and just figured he was growing at his own pace. He had just recently learned the alphabet and how to count and could speak a few key phrases. He also only ate about 10 different foods. Now? Piglet will be 6 in November(!) and is starting Kindergarten soon. He did 2.5 years of preschool in Hawaii and I think he is more than ready for school. He ditched diapers and binkies and his now able to communicate in all kinds of ways. He is constantly telling us stories he’s made up and can express himself with tons of phrases. He also eats pretty much everything. I only have to make 1 dinner now because he will actually eat the main meal. Whooo!
Blueberry was only 9 months when we arrived. She couldn’t do anything. Okay, not true. She could almost sit up on her own and ate baby food. She learned to crawl in Hawaii, to walk, to talk. Basically become a real tiny human instead of just an adorable baby. The change from a 9 month old to a 3.5 year old is insane. It’s almost like she is a different person. She also ditched diapers and binkies in Hawaii and is just an amazing little person.
Of course, Mac wasn’t with us when we first arrived in Hawaii but he has still changed. From squishy-faced baby to a spunky 14 month old, he’s one cool addition to the family. He’s just about walking and is starting to attempt words. I can’t wait to see how much more he grows here!
Do you ever look back on old pictures and reflect?
