One of the major issues with Piglet’s autism is his aversion to food. Unfamiliar food or food that doesn’t fit into his routine, he has usually put up a fight and he did live for a while on chicken flavored ramen and french fries. We have made progress at home but at school, he mostly ate the same few items.
But no more! Over the last few weeks, he’s eaten a lot more food and I couldn’t be happier.
His old lunches were cheese cubes, buddy fruits, and juice. Now, he eats popcorn, grapes, and mandarin orange in addition to his cheese and buddy fruits. He also takes a thermos of milk with him and a bag of cheerios for breakfast. His teacher has noticed that since he’s eating more, he is more focused at school and is more willing to do more activities at school.
Who knew that actually being full meant you’d pay more attention in school? Okay, we all did. But, I am glad he is finally eating more during the day. The next challenge, lunch meat. I feel like he needs more protein. And maybe one day, he’ll be able to eat a sandwich at school with no hang ups. Maybe.
