On our Bucket List, we wanted to visit the Dole Plantation. We did in 2014 and we have been back a few times but mostly for Dole Whip and to ride the train. After a week of being bored at home, Hubs suggested doing the Pineapple Maze. We’ve never done it and it claims to be the World’s Largest. I don’t know if that’s true or not but it is pretty big.
When you arrive, you get a ticket that they timestamp, it has 8 boxes for the 8 checkpoints that you need to find. We also got a map but you could always freestyle it I guess. The lady told us our stroller was going to get caught but we were using our jogging stroller and it did just fine. If you were in an umbrella stroller, I could see how it might be an issue.
There are 8 checkpoints to find, when you get there, you have to stick your paper into a slot and color in the shape. Each checkpoint was for one of the Hawaiian Islands. Funny story, we were at a checkpoint and this dude walked up and started shading his paper like a leaf impression from when you were little. It did not work at all. I could see his paper was just a bunch of pencil lines. Blueberry looked at him and said “you did it wrong, you have to slide it in the hole!” He looked so confused until I showed him the right way. Whoops. Dude got schooled by a 3 year old.
It took us exactly 1 hour, which I think is pretty good for a crew of 5. Afterward, Blueberry (who has been to the plantation more times with her sitter) walked over to a door and was like “It’s time for ice cream!”
Have you ever done a maze before? They let people do this one in the dark around Halloween which sounds terrifying!
