|one day we’ll take a good picture.|
Since getting more acquainted with Oahu, I have realized how small our bucket list really is. I mean, yes we have done some cool stuff but there is so much more to Oahu. We’ve been checking things off lately that I didn’t even know existed. One was the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout. It’s the place where King Kamehameha I pushed 400 soldiers 300-style off a cliff. So you know, a great family activity.
While it was a beautiful day on my side of the island, driving to lookout, we drove literally into the only cloud on the island. At first I was bummed because the view was obscured but it cleared up some and we were able to see the sights.
Seeing the windward side from this height was pretty amazing. Although we couldn’t see some of the things out in the water, we did get to see the botanical gardens and added that to our ever-growing list of things to do before we move.
You used to be able to hike the ridgeline but it’s currently closed. I don’t think it’s family friendly anyway. There’s signs everywhere that say beware of falling rocks so we wouldn’t have done it anyway.
It was pretty cool to step into a cloud today. While it was windy and felt cool, we didn’t really get wet like in a rainstorm. And we also discovered it was faster to get to Kailua so we may be checking out more of that side now that we don’t have to drive on H-3, which scares the dickens out of me.
