Welcome to my Aulani staycation recap! We stayed 3 days so I have broken up the vacation to show you all the amazing things but not make this like an old-school slideshow presentation. So, what is Aulani? It’s the Disney Resort and Spa on Oahu. I remember seeing commercials for it before we moved here and I was so. excited. Disney holds a special place in our family so I knew we had to go.
Upon arriving, my dream of getting a lei at a hotel finally came true. Do not believe the movies, most hotels aren’t lei-ing anyone. I got a flower one, Hubs got a kukui one, and the kids got necklaces with little menehune on them. Menehune are little mischievous dwarves who play tricks, perfect for our kids. At the hotel, rather than hidden Mickey’s, there are hidden menehune.
Once we got to our room, I was blown away. It was actually 2 rooms and I kept asking “did we get a suite? What is happening!?!” No suite, this was just a 5 person room. Disney had the pack and play already there and each kid had their own bed. Blueberry’s was a murphy bed that came out of the TV stand and Piglet had the classic sofa bed. We took the king size bed and since this is a spa, the bathroom was very luxurious. It even had a bidet/toilet with a heated toilet seat!
While we were at dinner, our maid came in and gave us turndown service and chocolate mints. It was such a lovely surprise! The robes that were in the room were like a dream and after taking a dip in the jacuzzi tub, I did not want to take it off. All the toiletries were amazing. The foot rub was by far my favorite one and I wish I had hidden the one tube so the maid would have replaced it. Oh well.
The hotel is also decorated with a lot of Hawaiian art. The entire lobby is outlined with the traditional story of Hawaii and I wish I would have taken more pictures of it. The pools are outlined in cool art as well, and an amazing statue of Stitch.

As always, Disney does it right! The resort is amazing. There are so many pools, we didn’t even go swim in their private lagoon. Crazy I know but we do live in Hawaii, we can swim in the ocean anytime.
Come back next week for a review of the pools!
