I love Asian food. The flavors are so good to me. Luckily, living in Hawaii, my taste buds are more than indulged. I also love cooking with fresh garlic. I used to be one of the people who kept jarred minced garlic in the fridge all the time but you know what? It’s not that much harder to keep cloves in the house and use fresh. And ever since I got a garlic press, it’s even easier.
I had some steak meat in the freezer than needed cooking and so I created this recipe. It’s super easy and you should be able to find everything in on the Asian aisle at your store.
1 cup of teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup fish sauce
1/2 cup oyster sauce
3-4 garlic cloves
Slow Cooker (make sure yours works, I set this one up and turns out it was broken! Luckily I have 2)
You want to chop your garlic up finely. Or use a garlic press. It was so easy and fun. I picked up mine from a sale on Zulily and I’m so glad. Seriously, I thought up things to cook all week just so I could use it.
Whisk it all together. Obviously the garlic won’t dissolve but it’s important to make sure all the sauces get good and mixed.
Pour the sauce over the steak and cook on low for 7-8 hours. When it’s done, the steak should shred easily with a fork. I ate mine over sticky rice – which is short grain. Long grain rice is so yesterday. Trust me.
