For our 5th anniversary, we went to Waikiki for a fancy dinner. We don’t go out much and when we do, we don’t really go to Waikiki because of the traffic, it takes like an hour to get down there and it’s so touristy. But anyway, we looked online to see what restaurants to try and Moritmoto’s was a winner. I mean, he’s an Iron Chef. How could we say no? The only thing was it was fancy-pants food and we didn’t really know what it all was. So we got the tasting menu instead.
OMG it was delicious. Here’s what we ate. I hope I remembered what it all was. And we ate outside and so my cell phone pictures slowly got worse. Sorry! Except for the sushi course because the flash came on. *shrug*
White fish and tartare. We had to ask how to eat this and I’m glad we did because it was so good. Event the wasabi.
White fish flash cooked in oil with soy sauce. So. Flipping. Good.
Oil Fondue with Anchovies and Garlic Paste. I want to make this at home. Seriously.
Pork belly and foie gras. Never had foie gras before and I want it again.
Kelp tea to cleanse our palate. It tasted as weird as it sounds.
Main Course: prawns, pork belly, and steak. It was pretty yummy.
Dessert: banana ice cream and coconut cake, I thought I would hate it because coconut is gross but this was good too.
Overall the meal was great. If it was so expensive and so fancy, we’d go back with the kids but no. It’s adults only. Well, people had their kids too but I didn’t think it was too appropriate. If you’re ever in Waikiki, you should totally try it!
