My mom came to visit for a couple days last week and we decided one afternoon to hit up the swap meet at the Aloha Stadium. It’s pretty famous I guess, a friend from high school who lived here as a child was like “Make sure you go!” I figured it was mostly touristy stuff and kept putting it off but it was a cool-ish day at my house so we drove over.
Of course, at the stadium, it was sunny and hot but oh well. It cost a dollar per person to get in and after we parked, we started walked. Blueberry was in the stroller at first but then she demanded she be allowed to walk and Piglet got hot so they traded and I pushed Piglet while my mom walked (chased) Blueberry around.
I had heard from several locals that if you see something you like, keep walking because another booth may have it cheaper down the way so at first we just walked around. They had some pretty cool booths, I must say. There was a booth selling ukuleles and I knew we needed to go back and get one. Piglet got a scarf from one of the booths – they’re a great sensory stimulation for him and Blueberry the diva got a new purse. Okay, her first purse. 😛 There were also a couple koa booths and my mom picked up a pretty cross that I may have to go hunt down so I can have one too.
Since we went during the day, Hubs didn’t get to go so I told him when he gets a Wednesday off, we need to go back. We didn’t even make it halfway around the stadium before we got too hot and decided to head on home.
Like my friend had recommended, the swap meet is a definite “must do” thing if you’re ever on Oahu!
