Is it too late to do a Thanksgiving recap? Yes? Who cares, I’m doing it anyway! This is the third time we’ve hosted the meal for my family and we changed up the menu from my family’s traditional food.
And I was pretty pumped. During the day, we played games and had a couple appetizers. I made a bacon cheese ball to eat with wheat thins and Hubs made a blooming onion.
For dinner, we had 2 starches and 2 veggies and of course the fried turkey. Hubs and worked on everything together, except he did the turkey. The brussel sprouts with bacon is our favorite and we both decided the asparagus was too salty. We probably won’t be making it again.
For the sides we did mashed potatoes (that I apparently didn’t take a picture of) and a sweet potato soufflé. The soufflé is a recipe we hacked from Honey Baked Ham and it’s pretty much the only way I like sweet potatoes. ;
And finally, the turkey. Deep fried to perfection. Hubs did a great job. He should fry me a bird once a month.
