Want to hear a revolutionary idea?
So. Freaking. Good.
You’re probably wondering why we made fried rice for breakfast? Here in Hawaii, locals love rice for breakfast. They love rice with every meal but breakfast especially (see the Moco Loco). Hubs had some fried rice at work one day and decided that we would enjoy it too.
He was so right. We made the rice the night before and the next day, we fried it up. The key to a good fried rice is using butter and sesame oil. The sesame oil makes it authentic. And delicious.
Once the rice was fried, we added some teriyaki sauce and some soy sauce for flavor and then we added our meat. We didn’t add vegetables because we didn’t know what would be good breakfast veggies but for the meat, we used spam, breakfast sausage, and bacon.
Right before serving, Hubs expertly cooked an egg over medium. Runny yolk and fried rice. My new favorite.
