Have you ever eaten at Mcalister’s Deli? They have some delicious spuds stuffed with all kinds of things. My husband decided to make our own spuds.
First, we baked some potatoes, he stuck them in the oven at 400 degrees for an hour and a half. It wasn’t quite enough time so we had to use the microwave too. Usually we put the potatoes in the crockpot on low for 8 hours but we forgot. Oops.
Once the potatoes were done, we scooped out the inside and made mashed potatoes out of it. Don’t scoop too much because we’re going to be refilling the spud. Add some chopped bacon to the mashed potato and the load the spud back up. Stick it back in the over for about 15 minutes.
Cook up some thinly sliced steak and season them well, after the spuds are done with their second bake, put the steak over top and then cover with some brown gravy. Then, eat your heart out.
Man, they were so good. Usually at Mcalister’s, I don’t get a spud. I don’t know why, these things were delicious. Or maybe, it’s just my husband’s cooking and how yummy that was. 😉 Since I work later than him, he is picking up some of the cooking detail. I don’t know if he’s been bored with my cooking but I am loving all the recipes he’s thinking up – check out the stuffed peppers from last week!
