This week, we made yam hash. Did you know that yans and sweet potatoes aren’t the same thing? Me neither. I got some yams, thinking I could make a sweet potato casserole. Not so my friend.
So, I made a hash. I used my Kitchen Aid grater to shred the yams. Then I melted some coconut oil in a pan and sautéed half a white onion. Once the onion was soft, I added the yams and started cooking them. I used chili, red pepper flakes, and garlic powder to season it.
Sidebar – since we’ve been eating clean, we’ve been using recipes that call for coconut oil. Can you explain it? It’s got more fat and more calories than butter so why’s it so great?
Once the yams were crispy, we ate them with some steamed chicken. Delicious. A happy mistake.
