Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I’m linking up with Jo, My Gosh! and sharing my love story with you all. But first, the winner of the Love Nourished giveaway is……Hilary aka @M1C2Blog! Congrats!
Our love story starts out kind of scandalous. I was a 2nd Lieutenant and he had just been promoted to Captain. I was a platoon leader and he was an executive officer; we were in different troops (that’s company for all y’all non Cav folks) so it wasn’t too bad but we still kept it under wraps.
I moved to a different unit a couple months later and it was easier to not hide our love.
We started dating and “moved in” with each other almost immediately. I was on 10 days of leave during our first date and he spent most of the time at my house and not at work that next week. From the moment of our first date, we were together all. the. time.
Of course, the Army had other plans and Hubs went TDY a lot during our courtship. He came home from a 6 week TDY in February of 2009 and we were too excited to be responsible and ended up creating Piglet (our favorite oops!).
Since we were grown adults, I didn’t expect to run off and get married but Hubs told me he was thinking of proposing on our “date-aversary” – July 2009 and wasn’t too sad about having to propose early. My mom married us at 630 in the morning on the beach in Florida in April 2009 and started a whirlwind of Army stuff.
Hubs had orders to Korea and we didn’t want that, since I was still on Active Duty, I couldn’t just leave. Also, I was pregnant. He got his orders changed (yay) to stay with me and then found out he was going to deploy (boo) when Piglet was 3 months old.
Prior to that, we moved from 2 different houses, drove from Kentucky to Virginia, to Florida. I met his family for the first time and we were blessed in the Church.
It was a crazy year and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Our 4-year anniversary is this April and I can’t believe it. Nearly 4 years later, he’s still my best friend and I’m so glad we got married so quickly. Even though the Army has kept us apart every year of our marriage, we’re still going strong. Sometimes being apart makes us appreciate each other when we’re together.
Did you get married quickly?
Why waste time when you know he’s the one?
