I’ve been wanting to go to a farmer’s market for a long time. They seem to fun. Fresh produce, local prices. Yum!
The first one I went to was a total bummer, it was more of a bunch of food trucks instead of farmers. I bought 1 head of romaine lettuce and some (awesome) nachos. The nachos were delicious and the lettuce was good too. It’s lettuce, how do you mess that up?
I saw a sign for another farmer’s market and decided to try that one. What’s the harm? It was close and at a reasonable time. I was able to go by myself, which is always fun. This one was way better! Several stalls of fresh produce. I bought some from a couple of them, even though 1 was huge and I could have gotten all the stuff at it. I felt nice supporting more people.
Here’s what I got: a Maui pineapple, fresh green beans, baby romaine lettuce, papayas, dragon fruit, and an avocado (that’s round?). All this for just $24. I have no idea if that’s a good price but it feels like a good deal. Plus, it’s all super fresh. It was a much better selection than at the commissary. The farmer’s market is every Sunday, so I can keep going and stock up for the week.
Do you go to farmer’s markets?
