So, we’re moving. We have moved. Today, I am homeless. That means we have no fridge. No freezer. No cabinets full of food.
Today is a great day.
I’ve been seeing so much lately about eating “clean” and going “paleo” and I’ve wanted to try some of it. But it’s hard when you already have a house full of food and you don’t want to just throw it all away. So wasteful!
Eating clean seems cool. No processed food, that’s always a good thing. I have tried to incorporate clean food but it’s hard when there’s already kraft mac and cheese in the pantry. Now, we’ll be able to make our own from noodles, cheese, and milk.
That’s healthier, right? I’m not sure but there’s less fake crap so that must be better.
Paleo sounds intriguing but the more I look into it, the less I want to do it. For starters, we’ve evolved since the Paleolithic era but people who promote the diet don’t seem to acknowledge that. From what I’ve read, they say our diet should never have changed once we started farming because many plants we grow aren’t “good” for our bodies. However, we’ve adapted and changed since the Palaeolithic era and there are many good foods that eating paleo won’t let you have.
For example, I think beans and legumes are good for you, but it’s a paleo no-no. So is cheese, but you can’t eat that either. I appreciate the focus on less grains but some of the diet proponents are flawed.
I think we will focus on adding more protein, fruits, and vegetables. Slightly paleo but not all the way. Mostly, I am going to focus on eating clean.
I also really want to buy a juicer. On Pinterest, there are so many yummy looking juice blends that I would love to try. I saw there was a juicer attachment for the kitchen-aid mixer and I’m thinking that would be a good birthday present. 😉
Hopefully it will be easy since our house will have no food in it and we’ll have to start from scratch. Might as well stock up on the healthy stuff!
