So, over at Mrs. K and Captain J, she challenged herself to run 100 miles in May and I was like “I’m totally all over that!” Last month without even trying, I ran 83. I figured I could squeeze in 17 more.
I use Nike+ to track all my mileage and my pace so I knew it would be easy to track and I would have a very accurate measurement of how many miles I would do so I got to running with the thought in my mind that doing 100 miles would be easy-peasy.
I was wrong.
May brought some new things that inhibited how many day I could actually go run and the timeframe I had to run.
First off, the hubs left for school so I was single-mommin’ it up. That is stressful and I didn’t always have the energy. The kiddos go to daycare 3 times a week to play with their friends and to keep me sane so I had 3 solid days for running, which I did.
One Saturday, I ran my first 10K race. I ran it all and came in at 64 minutes. Not too shabby for my first 10K and only my second race. So, that Sunday, I didn’t run to give myself a break.
The next weekend I had drill and my APFT. I ran 2 miles in 18 minutes. I’m happy with it, I passed. I of course was only able to log 2 more miles. Sunday, I was working and had no time to run.
Then, we started moving. My washer and dryer got packed and I didn’t feel like hunting down a laundrymat just to wash my sweaty clothes.
So, I only got 60 miles in May. Not bad. I’m sure it’s more than most. At least I hope it is.
I think for June, I just want to run more than 60 so I feel like I’m progressing. Maybe I’ll try for 100 miles in August, I’m guessing that’s when we’ll be settled in our new house. Or we might still be living in a hotel. We shall see.
