I recently stumbled upon the website Influenster, it’s basically a community to review products. They also have these things called VoxBoxes which get sent out periodically, filled with goodies to sample and then you review them. I qualified for the Sweetheart VoxBox, which is the first box for 2013 and my first box.
Here’s my first impression: Holy Cow! I thought I was going to get sample sized products to try but no, they’re full size items. How amazing. Also, the box smelled like the beach because of the hair stuff, which was quite pleasant, considering it’s cold and winter.
Here’s the contents of the first box. Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va Vivid, Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe, Secret Clinical Strength, and a SkinnyGirl On-the-Go bar.
There was also a breakdown of how much everything costs, which was nice, if I want to buy all these products, I have some cost expectations prior to heading to the store.
Now, on to the reviews!
This is a fun face wash. At first, I thought it was just a wand and soap but the wand is actually battery powered so it vibrates on your face. The soap is light and fresh feeling and the combination of the wand and the vibrations made my face super soft. It was like I had used an exfoliating scrub, I think that’s the point though. I am definitely excited to use it again. I used it just at the sink but I can take it into the shower, according to the directions which would be quite convenient.
I have used Secret Clinical Strength before but never the citrus scent. I must say, it smells really good. Nice, light, and fresh. I always buy non-scented or “powder” scent because I don’t want my deodorant to overpower things but this smells good. Almost like a Happy, remember that perfume? It’s quite nostalgic. As for being “clinical strength” I don’t see a difference between this and other deodorant/anti-antiperspirants. It is more expensive and I don’t notice a difference better normal strength and this, but maybe I just don’t sweat enough for “clinical” strength stuff.
I have never tried this spray before. Or really any hair product. I usually am a wash-and-go kind of gal. In fact, the directions on the bottle weren’t clear to me so I had to look up their website and find better directions. They had a video of a lady with lovely long locks and she ended up with awesome “beach” hair. Me? Not so much. As you can see below, I have incredibly fine hair. The spray gave me some body but not really the result I’m sure the product is going for. I’d be willing to bet if my hair was longer, it would work a whole lot better. Overall, it was an easy to use product and smelled amazing. Maybe when my hair grows out, I’ll give it another go.
I was actually worried about trying this bar because I don’t really like coconut but I gave it a shot. Was I surprised or what? The coconut flavor was not over-powering and left a sweetness mixed in with the peanut butter. I thought it was pretty good, despite my trepidation.
Overall, I really enjoyed my first VoxBox and I can’t wait to try out more!
Full disclosure; I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
