As you may be aware of, I am a Reserve Soldier. I work during the year for a weekend in each month and then in the summer, we have “annual training” (AT). Usually, it’s 2 weeks but lucky for me, it’s 20 days!
Not really, 20 days is a long time to be apart from my family. I know lots of soldiers deploy – my husband included – and spend more than 20 stinking days apart but I never have.
The longest I’ve been apart from Piglet is overnight. I am so sad that we will be apart. He is going to Florida to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa since The Hubster has to work and will be insanely busying while I’m gone.
As for me, I will literally be across the country from my kiddo. I’m going to Washington State to assist ROTC cadets learn about IEDs. Well, my soldiers will be teaching the classes, I will be giving a safety brief 6 times a day (no really) and probably being rained on. Super fun! Oh, and I’ll probably be a little uncomfortable because I’m pregnant.
Anyway, I’m leaving next Thursday and I won’t be back until mid-July. Then I have to fly to my parent’s house and I’ll finally get to see Piglet. It’ll probably be closer to a month by the time we meet back up.
I keep forcing him to cuddle and hug with me since I already miss him and I haven’t left yet. I’m sure the pregnancy hormones aren’t helping my attitude either.
