I love sugar cookies. I hate rolling out the dough and cutting shapes though. So I usually just make bars. Yesterday, I decided to make round ones. And they turned out great.
Here’s the recipe. It makes 2 dozen.
2 1/4 cup flour
2 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter-flavored Crisco
3/4 cup sugar
3 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
First, blend the butter and sugar together.
Then, add the eggs in one at a time.
Once blended, slowly add your dry ingreients.
Scoop into balls using a melon baller.
Cook at 350 degrees for 10-11 minutes. Let them cool on cookie tray for 4 minutes before moving them.
Remove and frost when cooled completely.
Here’s the frosting recipe I used:
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
milk as needed
food coloring (optional)
It’s a quick and easy recipe that gets the flavor of sugar cookies without all the trouble of cooling the dough, rolling it out, cutting shapes, etc. Save the fancy stuff for Christmas.
