I used to run all the time. In college, I did it twice a day. And as an Army officer, I’m expected to be able to run. In the fall of 2009, I started having trouble running. My legs would always go numb when I ran but I figured it was just part of running but in 2009, the pain was too intense. I had to stop. I went to the doctor and was referred to the podiatrist and physical therapist.
Turns out, one of my legs is almost an inch shorter than the other! I was given new custom soles for my boots and sneakers and I was about to start physical therapy but I got pregnant. Now, I’m done being pregnant (for now) and I’ve been doing my physical therapy for almost a month now. My legs feel stronger and I am ready to start running.
Honestly, I used to like running, it was a nice time to just think and be alone. From the Weight Watchers website, I got a 6 week training plan to run a 5k. I am going to start running on Monday morning, which means on May 15th, I am going to run a 5k. There is a 5k on the 14th scheduled here from the American Red Cross, so I might run a day early.
If not, I’ll just do it on my own. I am super excited to start this. I hope I can fall back in love with running – and maybe buy a jogging stroller, because I want one so badly just because I think they’re cool!
