Well, this past weekend was a first. The first time Piglet flew on an airplane.
He’s done traveling before, when he was not even a month old, we drove from Kentucky to Virginia to Florida and then back to Kentucky. It was long but Piglet pretty much just sat there, ate his milk, and slept.
This time was different. He’s older now, 4 months, and it’s an airplane. Not a car.
And I did it alone since the hubster isn’t here. I bought 1 seat so he was in my lap. I checked my suitcase that had all of our clothes and just took his diaper bag, car seat and stoller frame which I gate checked. Security was easy enough. The TSA agents were very helpful since I was traveling without another adult.
Since Piglet is getting older, the entire world is interesting to him so he didn’t sleep in the airport. He was wide awake as we walked to our seats. We ended up getting to sit by ourselves in the row so even though I only paid for 1 seat, I got 2. It was nice.
Piglet didn’t even cry.
He fell asleep as soon as we got on the plane and slept through most of the flight. On the way home, I had to feed him on the plane and change his diaper. He had a poopy one and it went halfway up his back!
Thank goodness we were traveling home and I could do laundry as soon as we got home. And I kind of cheated. Since I had 2 seats to myself, and we were in the very back of the plane, I just changed him at my seat instead of struggling with the tiny bathroom. It probably wasn’t allowed but it worked for us.
All in all, the flights went pretty smoothly. And we got to see some friends and the cherry blossoms.
Next month, we’re flying to Grandma and Grandpa’s house but we’ll each have a seat so his car seat is coming on board with us. I wonder if that will make it harder or easier?
